Inspired by the beloved animated film, ANASTASIA transports us from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing conman and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love, and family.
With its opulent settings, dazzling costumes, and a soaring score including the song favourites from the hit animated film, “Journey to the Past” and “Once Upon a December,” ANASTASIA is the spectacular musical about discovering who you are and defining who you’re meant to be.

Casting Process Open!
HATY are now accepting expressions of interest from anyone who is wanting to audition to be in the cast of ANASTASIA at the Halifax Playhouse in October 2025.
Anyone aged between 8 and 18 can audition to be part of the show. You don’t need to have had any previous experience or training; we are looking for young people who are committed, enthusiastic and willing.
Unfortunately we are only able to have a limited cast as part of the show due to backstage requirements of the theatre. This means that anyone wanting to be in the show will be required to audition/workshop.
All expressions of interest need to be submitted by 9pm Wednesday 14th May in order to have the opportunity to audition. The form will close at this time so no late submissions will be able to be made.
Auditions and the workshop will take place on Sunday 18th May.
