Our 2022 line up is already looking pretty magical, but here is another show to put in your calendar and look forward to!
As we have received a huge amount of interest from prospective cast members for HATY's production of We Will Rock You, we are conscious that sadly there will be a number of disappointed youngsters as we are likely to quickly reach our maximum cast size permitted at the Halifax Playhouse.
For this reason we have secured the rights to do a 2nd musical next year to offer even more opportunities to perform fantastic musical theatre to our young members.
Matilda Jr. is a gleefully witty ode to the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the "revolting children" who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson.
Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence... and special powers! She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace!
Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs, Matilda JR. is a joyous girl power romp. Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.
To be performed at our very own Wellington Rooms, this is sure to be a fantastic 2nd instalment of our newly revived in-house season of theatrical events at home. With great plans in place to convert our space into a real fringe theatre environment, we look forward to welcoming you into the rooms to watch this Tim Minchin masterpiece.
