Expressions of interest in Kinky Boots are now closed and we are super excited to share with you the 3 fabulously talented individuals who will be filling the boots of the production team roles for this show...
HAOS is very excited about our up-and-coming production of Kinky Boots to be staged at The Victoria Theatre, Halifax in September 2022, and we have been lucky enough to secure some of the best talent in the area to lead us through to yet another HAOS smash-hit this summer. Even though to many of our friends & members they will be familiar faces, we'd like to take the time to introduce them and see what they have to say about this amazing project....
Chris Walker
Director
Chris Walker is a director/performer who has been involved with many different societies in the area, both on and off stage. Since completing his MA in Performance, he has directed and been involved in a vast array of different performance projects- both in the UK and abroad. During his undergraduate course he focussed heavily on performance technique, theatre producing and contemporary practice. Performing and directing contemporary theatre works within the UK and internationally.
Moving onto postgraduate study his focus shifted towards community theatre and personal development through the arts. Chris loves working with the cast and exploring their characters throughout the process, with his directing style aiming to help all cast members to be the best they possibly can be on stage.
Directing such a powerful show like “Kinky Boots” is a wonderful opportunity and he looks forward to the fun and memories to be made! He can’t wait to see some of you in 6 inch heels at the launch event!
Sarah Attah
Choreographer
Sarah first appeared with HAOS in the early 80s at a time when she was mostly jumping around, pretending to be Cyndi Lauper. How fitting that almost 40 years on she is able to choreograph to the music of this legend. Having retired from a career on stage in 2010, Sarah now teaches Creative and Performing Arts at a large Halifax high school.
As Head of Dance, she runs clubs for all ages ranges and her elite squads are 6-time national finalists in the largest schools’ competition in the UK. She has choreographed numerous productions for the society including Jesus Christ Superstar, Our House and Rock of Ages.
Sarah first saw Kinky Boots on Broadway and is excited to bring the story of Price and Son to a new audience.
Michael Gilroy
Musical Director
Having recently been involved in a major premiere of Calendar Girls in Grassington, Michael understands the sense of value and importance in accurately representing issues that affect how we live and operate in today’s society, including ill health, equality and inclusion.
Even though the origins of the KB narrative are from the 1990s, the themes it raises are equally prevalent in today’s world.
