HAOS Needs YOU! (Again)

HAOS Needs YOU! (or maybe someone you know...)

Now that this years shows are either already rehearsing or in the process of securing a cast, we want to get ahead of the curve and get things going for our 2022 spring/summer shows of "THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME", & "CALENDAR GIRLS"

We are therefore now inviting expressions of interest for being involved as a member of the production teams for these two fantastic shows to be staged at the Victoria Theatre next year, as the two shows are only a few months apart, we are asking candidates to be mindful of the workload that would be involved in applying to do both.

THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME

HAOS is thrilled to be performing this mammoth musical, and are now seeking to put in place a creative & open-minded team, willing to approach the show enigmatically, possibly contemporary, and perhaps including a featured choir.

This musical has a medium to low amount of featured dance, supported in the main by movement, for this reason we are open to proposals of standard or non-standard team combinations involving teams of 2, 3 or even 4 to cover the workload, with possible individual Director-Choreographer roles, or role-sharing.

A modest fee is available for each production team member to assist with travel expenses, which will be commensurate with the level of input/responsibility taken on dependant on the final team make up.

Auditions for the show are likely to be in October this year, with rehearsals starting early January. Although the diary is yet to be confirmed, Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons are expected, with additional rehearsals to be organised across Mondays/Tuesdays and Fridays.

Please submit your Expressions of Interest to HAOS Production Secretary – Karen Illingsworth (karen@haosproductions.com) by midnight 4th July 2021. If you would like to discuss any aspect of this production please get in touch.

CALENDAR GIRLS

There are many reasons to be excited about Calendar Girls - the fact that it’s a unique story about the women of Yorkshire being just one of them. The creation of “that calendar” broke all kinds of conventions and has provided the backbone for the film, the play and now the musical, and will require a true leap of faith from the principal cast; the nude calendar caused such a stir in real life because it was so daring and could have left the women vulnerable.

With all of the above in mind, and given the requirement to get into the minds of a real breadth of female characters driving the central story, when discussing the practicalities of producing such a ground-breaking show, the management committee were excited to consider a first for HAOS in over 30 years - the possibility of an all-female team behind it. Because of this, we are especially keen to encourage women to apply for each of the production team roles. No show lends itself more to the concept of women supporting women; it’s what the central theme is, after all.

This musical features a low dance requirement, supported in the main by movement, for this reason we are open to proposals of standard or non-standard team combinations involving possible combined Director-Choreographer roles, or role-sharing.

Auditions for the show are likely to be early 2022, with rehearsals starting either immediately following Hunchback, or with some cross-over for principal work. Although the diary is yet to be confirmed, Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons are expected, with additional rehearsals to be organised across Mondays/Tuesdays and Fridays.

So, If you feel the same as us, and can't wait to get stuck back in to creating theatre, let us know asap and you might be one of our next production team members. Or perhaps standing at the front of the rehearsal room is not for you, then please help us spread the word far and wide to ensure we get the very best creatives that our members and audiences have grown accustomed to.
