Persephone is the goddess of spring in Hadestown and the wife of Hades. In this version of the myth, she becomes a vibrant, rebellious figure caught between two worlds: the warmth and freedom of the surface, and the cold industrial underworld of Hadestown.

She brings life, music, wine, and summer energy wherever she goes. She has a big personality that is charismatic and magnetic, witty and sarcastic. She is compassionate toward workers and outsiders and frustrated with Hades' growing obsession with control. Unlike the imposing stillness of Hades, Persephone is full of movement, emotion, celebration, and nature.
